DOH notes Covid-19 cases intensify

The Department of Health (DOH) reported a 9.9 percent increase in Covid-19 cases on May 24.


According to the DOH, 718 Covid-19 patients in hospitals were in severe and critical condition.


Meanwhile, 432 of the 2,812 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds for Covid-19 patients were occupied on May 22.


The DOH reported an average of 173 Covid-19 cases per day, consisting of 1,214 new cases from May 16 to 22— accumulating a total of 3,689,281 cases.


The department added that out of the 2,235 active cases, 55 were reported from Metro Manila.


Furthermore, the total death due to the virus remained at 60,455 as no latest deaths were announced since Sunday.


While 68.9 percent of the population are vaccinated, a total of 3,626,591 is considered recovered from the virus.


The DOH continues to remind people to observe minimum health guidelines, such as wearing face masks, observing physical distancing— along with getting vaccinated, and considering booster shots.
