World-class gymnast Carlos Yulo captured fifth gold medal for the Philippines in the 31st Southeast Asian Games men's horizontal bar at the Quan Ngua Sports Palace in Hanoi, Vietnam, on May 16.

The Filipino champ shared the gold with Vietnam star Ding Phuong Thanh, who performed last among eight competitors, garnering an identical 13.897 points.

Meanwhile, another Vietnam bet, Le Thanh Tung bagged a bronze medal after collecting 13.433 points.

Yulo dominated all of his three events of the day as he nailed gold in vault and secured silver in parallel bars.

In the 2019 SEA Games where Philippines clinched overall championship, Yulo was hailed as the most bemedalled Filipino athlete with two golds and five silvers.

Currently, the 22-year-old gymnast nearly tripled his 2019 gold record, capturing five golds and two silvers in artistic gymnastics.

Overall, Yulo hiked his golden haul from individual all-around, still rings, and floor exercise. He also pocketed a silver medal in the men's team event.

Capturing seven medals out of eight events, a misstep on the pommel horse caused the pint-sized gymnast to miss out on the podium, landing sixth place in the 8-gymnast field.
