Four Adamson University players, including Ahmad Hanapi, did not participate in the first half of the UAAP season's game against the University of the East at Mall of Asia on Tuesday morning.
“It was a disciplinary measure for those five players,” said Adamson’s head coach, Nash Recala.
Among the players who sat down were Hanapi, Mario Barasi, Tricky Peromingan, Joseph Fuentebella, and Ivan Maata.
Consequently, they were on hold in the first half against the Red Warriors.
The reason for the halt of players is “ice cream,” Recala said to the press after they scored an 82-66 in their first win in the season.
As part of the birthday celebration of their director athlete, Fr. Aldrin Suan, numerous food was sent to them for the team’s dinner, which include cake and ice cream,
The coach reminded the team that they had an early game the next day, but they insisted on eating and getting a scoop of ice cream. It may be a simple manner to other people, but for Recala, it was a disciplinary approach.
Eventually, the players returned to their ball game in the second half.
Hanapi scored four points in the Falcon’s nest with a decent win against the Red Warriors.
