MANILA, Philippines – Manila churches, and chapels will finally open their doors to Catholics for the Visita Iglesia after being closed for two years for the observance of Holy Week.

It was confirmed that eight churches and chapels will participate in this year’s Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

The churches included are the Manila Cathedral, San Agustin Church, Guadalupe Shrine in Fort Santiago, Shrine of Jesus, Divine Teacher, Santa Rita Chapel, Letran Chapel, and St. Matthew's Chapel, all located inside the walled city.

Intramuros Administration (IA) Chief Guiller Asido said in an interview on Tuesday that people should be assured because stakeholders are ready for the expected influx of visitors.

"This is the first time after two years that we're doing this again. We're ready for the influx. Everyone is ready," he told the Philippine News Agency (PNA).

Asido added that the IA has coordinated with all stakeholders, which includes the City of Manila, the Philippine National Police, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, for the safety of the Lenten Season inside Intramuros.

In addition, traffic within the walled city will be facilitated. From the night of Holy Wednesday to Good Friday, General Luna Street will be closed to all vehicles. There will also be designated areas for public parking in various locations.

On the other hand, for those who can’t attend Visita Iglesia personally, it can now be accessed virtually through a mobile app, FaithWatch, which can be downloaded both on IOS and Android devices.

In collaboration with Areopagus Communications, Inc. and the Heart of Francis Foundation, the CBCP Media Offices produces FaithWatch and Visita Iglesia Online.
