As summer is about to come to an end, now is the ideal time to visit Laboracay, the Philippines' trendiest beach party—a perfect opportunity to let loose, release tension, and have as much fun as you want.

Laboracay is a combination of the words “labor” and “Boracay”. It is an annual celebration held on the weekend closest to May 1st, where people fly there only to attend in Boracay, one of the Philippines' most popular islands.

Every month of April, hotels and flights to Boracay were fully booked, demonstrating how popular this event is.

Unfortunately, since the pandemic, the event has been canceled, and people are expecting that it will return in 2022, as we have been on alert level one for quite some time.

According to DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing, Laboracay is still canceled this April 20, not unless the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) changes their decision on this matter.

As of now, these departments still have no plans for Laboracay to be back on track. The effect of the said event on the environment was unpleasant due to the number of people going and the trash produced by Laboracay.

Densing also mentioned that not only are they trying to prevent the unpleasant causes of the event to the environment, but they are also trying to maintain the minimum public health standard to avoid COVID-19 from spreading in Boracay and as well as to other destinations.

Though it is unfortunate that the most anticipated party of the year has been postponed again, this is for the sake of our health and the environment. We are slowly recovering from the pandemic, and people are becoming more aware of proper etiquette. It's possible that the event will open again in the near future.
