DA GREAT PERSPECTIVE: Women can be a gamers too

In an era wherein women partake in usually male-dominated fields, the esports league is definitely not an exemption.

One example is Grindsky Eris, a group of female pro players for the mobile game League of Legends: Wild Rift, who represented the Philippines and attained a gold medal during the 31st SouthEast Asian Games.

They were the first and only all-female team for the Sibol, the national esports team of the Philippines.

The era where girl gamers exist has begun as there were women who broke the stigma that a girl can’t compete in such a competitive scene.

It was a huge step to break the norms and be an inspiration to women players who have experienced discrimination; it is not because they are women, they can't compete with strength to fulfill their esports dreams.

Gender is not a barrier to play; we all have the right to, and we should not see that playing video games does no good.

Moreover, there could be a lot of benefits in playing video games: one could have more friends, acquire better communication skills, and make lots of happy memories.

T

he story of Grind Sky Eris will always be an inspiration to every woman who wants to pursue their gaming career too

Hopefully, more will reach their dreams for their esports career as there is nothing wrong with pursuing a gaming career as long as they love what they do.
